Inroduction
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Act (LGA) 2013 ammendet in 2019 makes it mandatory for local bodies elected members and functionaries in local governments shall attend training courses for such periods and in such manner and at such places as may be prescribed by Government.
The Local Government Department has notified a Local Government Training Institute in January 2008. The same was upgraded to the Local Governance School (LGS) in April 2012. The School in housed in the Local Government Complex Phase-VII, Hayatabad and has a dedicated training hall, offices for the school administration and management and supporting staff. The LGS has hostel facility, a small library, cafeteria, masjid, car parking etc.
Vision of the Local Governance School:
Local Governance School is envisaged to become a dedicated institute of Human Resources Development in the arena of Local Governance for efficient management and effective delivery of basic social and municipal services leading towards People-friendly Governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Aims and Objectives of Local Governance School:
- To conduct certificate courses for the Pre-Service and In-Service training through advanced learning techniques/modules for the officers and officials of the Local Government, Local Council Board, Municipal Administrations and its affiliates.
- To conduct training workshops, orientations and seminars for elected representatives of the local government including Mayors, Councilors Community Organizations working in support of Local Government entities.
- To work as “think-tank “for the local government department in the arena of local government and its administrative, political and financial aspects.
