The Local Governance School KP together with the GIZ FATA Development Programme has developed innovative ways for sensitization and awareness raising on the local governance system in the Merged Areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Comic strips and public service messages involving the comic characters of Sher Khan and Gul Bano display benefits of the local governance system for the people living in the Merged Areas. These messages include topics on public service delivery such as waste management, irrigation systems, the establishment of markets and street lights as well as on health services. They furthermore sensitize on the rights of citizens such as on the right to education and the right to vote as well as on further topics, for example COVID 19 prevention.
